Robert William Jenkins

R. W. (Bob) Jenkins, 90, of Freeport passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013.He was born January 1, 1923 in Gulf Port, Mississippi to Albert and Nettie Pearl Jenkins.After graduation he joined the Merchant Marines for several years. Bob came to Freeport in 1950 and went to work for Dow Chemical Company and retired from Dow in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lois Jenkins, his parents, great grandson, Luke Jenkins, brother, Albert Jenkins, sister Evelyn Krabs, and daughter in-law Sandy Jenkins.

Bob is survived by four children: Ann Crews and husband, Donald of Clute,

Pamela Mitchell and husband, Jerry of Angleton,

Barbara Davey and husband David of Mt. Pleasant, Texas,

Joe Jenkins of Jones Creek,

9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

Bob was a man of few words with a very big heart.
