Melinda Haviland

Melinda McBride Haviland, aged 61, died peacefully on February 21, 2013 at home in Lake Jackson, Texas. Melinda was born August 29, 1951 in Freeport, Texas, the daughter of John Wright McBride and Mavis Tarbell.

Melinda loved to travel and had a passion for food and music. She was a loyal and dedicated registered nurse for 29 years.


In 1970, Melinda married the love of her life Clifford H. Haviland in Hawaii and proceeded to have three children. Along with being a loving wife and mother, Melinda was a wonderful friend and respected co-worker. She was a gentle soul and overwhelmingly generous. Melinda was a member of New Beginnings Community Church in Lake Jackson, Texas.


Melinda was laid to rest on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. Over 400 people were in attendance to celebrate the life of a beautiful person who was so very loved.


Melinda is proceeded in death by her father, John Wright McBride, survived by her mother Mavis Tarbell, husband of 43 years Clifford H. Haviland, children Jason Lee Haviland and wife Jina, Jenna Lynn Masters and Jessica Leann Haviland, four grandchildren, Jake Everett Masters and Jaret Thomas Masters, Jamison Lane Haviland, Judge Liam Haviland, brother Wright McBride and wife Sylvia.
