Kathleen Shaw David, 56, of Freeport, TX, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013.


Born to Jane and Frank Conrad on August 14, 1956, in Corpus Christi, TX, she later lived as a child in Lewistown, Montana. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where her sister, Lisa, was born. In 1962, the couple divorced and Kathleen, Lisa, and Jane moved to Shreveport, La., where they lived for four years. In 1964, Jane married William E. Shaw, who legally adopted Kathleen and Lisa, and in 1966 the family moved to Freeport, TX.


Kathleen graduated from Brazosport High School in 1974 and in 1976 earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, TX, where she also worked as a secretary in the English and Fine Arts Department. After graduating, Kathleen lived in Austin, Texas, where she worked for the State Comptroller, and also lived in Houston, TX, where she was employed as a secretary for several major companies. While in Houston, Kathleen married and gave birth to her precious daughter, Sarah Noël, the light of Kathleen's life. The couple separated and eventually divorced following mother's and daughter's return to Freeport, TX. Soon after, Kathleen met and later married Samuel David, who legally adopted Sarah as one of his own. Kathleen went on to work in retail for a number of years and spent the last 10 years of her life being a dedicated stay-at-home mom for Sarah and stepdaughters, Valerie and Anna David.


She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Shaw; grandparents, Ben and Eleanor Worley; grandmother, Ruth Shaw; and birth father, Frank Conrad.


She is survived by her husband, Samuel David of Freeport; daughter, Sarah David, of Freeport; mother, Jane Shaw, of Freeport; sister, Lisa Shaw and partner, Nancy Michon, of Houston; stepdaughter, Valerie David and Jesse Cuellar of Angleton; stepdaughter, Anna Cooper and husband, Chane Cooper of Austin; mother and father-in-law Elva and Ralph David, of Freeport; stepmother, Mary Conrad, of San Diego, CA; uncle, David E. Conrad and aunt, Beverly Conrad, of Murphysboro, IL; step grandchildren, Avery, Joshua, and Lauren Cuellar of Angleton; and countless others whose lives have been touched by her generous and loving heart.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1307 W. 5th St., Freeport, TX 77541, the Rev. Robert Dohle officiating. Immediately following will be a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. in the church parish hall.
