Lillian Beatrice Travis

Lillian B. Travis, 86, of Freeport, Texas, went to be with the Lord, April 4, 2013. She was born January 23, 1927 in Spring, Texas to Ralph and Lizzie Burroughs.
Lillian was a wife, mother, and Granny. She was a Sunday school teacher for 68 years at Velasco Baptist Church. She was an Eastern Star member, where she served as a grand officer. She was board member, devoted community leader and completed her husband's term as Brazoria County Commissioner. Always a caregiver, loving friend, and professional woman, she served her God, her family and her community tirelessly. Lillian was the Proverbs 31 woman and an inspiration and a role model to all who knew her.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, James "Sonny" Travis, seven brothers and one sister.
Mother is survived by her children, Rodney and Ruth Travis, of Lake Jackson, Phyllis Branch, of St. Croix, and Richard and Jamie Travis, of West Columbia. Granny is survived by her grandchildren, Jamie and Keith Williams, of Pearland, Carri and Jeff Shank, of West Columbia, Chuck and Kimberly Travis, of West Columbia, Richard and Karen Bailes, of West Columbia, Leah and Mark Wood, of Lakeway, Titus Bailes, of Puerto Rico, Caitlyn and Jonathan Barrow, of Pearland, Christy Travis and Austin Travis, of West Columbia; and great-grandchildren, Heather and Eric Paddy, Travis Williams, Alyson Williams, Lilli Ann Shank, Ashlynn and Randall Vickers, Tristan and Madelyn Travis, Jacob and Benjamin Bailes, Danielle and Victoria Carpenter; and great-great-grandson Cason Travis Vickers. Lillian is also survived by her sister Alma Burns of Conroe.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home, 98 N. Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 501 South Brazosport Blvd, Freeport, Texas with the Rev. Abel Garcia officiating. Interment to follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek.
