Dewey "D. Wayne" Wayne Atkins

Dewey Wayne Atkins, 89, of Freeport, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was born November 1, 1923 in Chilton, Texas to George Dewey and Ophelia Elizabeth Vinson Atkins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. Wayne retired from Dow Chemical Company having worked for over thirty years. He was also a member of Pipe fitters Local.

He preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby Atkins, and sister, Barbara Atkins Walker.

Wayne is survived by 2 children: Thomas Wayne Atkins,

Howard Lynn Atkins,

1 brother, Bonner Joe Atkins,

1 sister, Anna Yvonne Atkins Tindle, and numerous other relatives.

The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Thursday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, May 17, 2013 with Stoney Burke officiating. Pall bearers Richard Valot, Norman Landry, T.W. Zirlott, Ken Tyner, Jose Mireles, Michael Tindle. Interment will be at Brazoria Cemetery.
