Donna Mae Benson

Donna Mae Benson, 82, of Lake Jackson, passed away April 6th, 2014 at Woodlake Nursing Home.
Donna was born, Donna Mae Willis in Chetopa Kansas. She attended school in Chetopa until she graduated from High School, then she went to Parsons Kansas to attend Junior College. She met and married Gerald "Jerry" Benson in April, 20th 1954. In September 1956 they celebrated the birth of their first child Gary and shortly thereafter moved to Lake Jackson, Texas for work. Jerry became the manager for the Dow Chemical Cafeteria in Freeport Texas. They quickly celebrated the birth of their 2nd son, Douglas in March 1958. Their daughter, Paula, came a few years later in 1964. Donna worked a loving homemaker until going to work for Clyde V. Lee Automotive in Freeport, TX in 1969. She worked as an office administrator until the Clyde V. Lee closed at which time she happily retired to spend more time with her grandchildren. She has been living in Lake Jackson until her death.
Donna is preceded in death by her Mom, Grace Smith; husband, Gerald Benson, son, Gary Benson, sister, Lorine Boren and her brother Robert "Bud" Willis.
Donna is survived by her sister Ruth Ellen Miller of Chetopa, Ks., brother Glen Smith of Buckeye Az., son Douglas Benson; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Robert Sexton; and four loving grandchildren Michael and Brooke Benson, Ryan and Rachel Sexton.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, TX on April 11th, 2014 at 7:00 9:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on April 12th, 2014 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Restwood Cemetery. Lakewood Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
