Margaret Ann Mason

Margaret (Peggy) Ann Mason, 83, of Lake Jackson peacefully passed from this earth surrounded by family and friends into the loving arms of our Lord on Friday, April 11, 2014.

She was born in Houstin, Texas on January 26, 1931, the fourth child of Roy Wilbert Young and Inez Sowders Young. Margaret married Carter L. Mason on March 4, 1949. While living in Houston and a short time in Oklahoma City, Margaret and Carter became the proud parents of two girls and one boy.
They came to Lake Jackson in 1961 shortly after hurricane Carla to help some friends who lived in the area. They liked it so much they decided to stay.
Margaret and Carter were members of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ. Margaret worked for Jerry Deere at the credit bureau in Freeport and then later for Harriet Herns until she retired again at 80 years young. She had recently lived at Jackson Village Apartments and wanted to deeply thank all of her friends who lived there and made her feel so welcome.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Wilbert Young and Inez Sowder, her husband of 46 years, Carter, one brother Milton Young, two sisters, Doris Christopher and Essie Wells.

Margaret is survived by two daughters; Trisha Mason and husband Doug Harris of Lake Jackson, Marcia Amend and husband Fred of Fort Worth, TX and son Stan Mason and wife Darlene of Lake Jackson, TX and One sister Mary Sealy of Houston, TX.
Six grandchildren: Aaron Mason, Amelia Mason, Julia Amend, Ryan Mason, Lindsey Amend, Matthew Amend. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1:00 pm Tuesday at Lakewood Chaple. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm, Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Interment to follow at Restwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Mason, Ryan Mason, Terry Coldwater, Doug Harris, Fred Amend and Nicky Gonzales.
