Doris Laverne Lowry

Former Clute resident Doris Laverne Lowry, 90, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, May 19, 2014.Mrs. Lowry was born January 9, 1924 to Bruce and May Ponton in Hallettsville, Texas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved journaling about her family and left behind a treasure of generational information and a legacy of family archives.


She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Judy Lowery, of Clute, Donald and Cathy Lowry, of Angleton; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; and brother, Carl Ponton of Clute.


She is preceded in death by husband, W.C. (Perry) Lowry; daughter, Connie Dosser and son, Bobbie Glenn Lowry.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at Lakewood from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
