Jack H Lippman

Jack Lippman, 80, of Richwood died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Houston, Texas. He is now relieved from the suffering he experienced from his stroke that occurred in June of 1996. He is now at peace.


Jack was born to Cecile Huvar Lippman and Louis Lippman on October 4, 1933 in Yoakum, Texas.


He moved to El Campo in 1936. After graduating from El Campo High School in 1952, he attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1956.


After working for a short period at Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas, he entered the U.S. Air Force. While being stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base, he received his navigator wings.


After special training at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas, he was stationed at Otis Air Force Base, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with the 58th fighter intercept squadron. He was discharged in 1959, obtaining the rank of Captain.


He rejoined Dow following his discharge from the Air Force. After 35 years of service, he retired from Dow in August 1994.


While at Dow, he served as a production engineer for 25 years and the last 10 years as safety director.


He worked at chlorinated hydrocarbons, vinyl chloride, phenol, and fire and security departments. Jack suffered a stroke following his retirement from Dow.


He and his wife La Verne were married for fifty-seven years. They did extensive traveling until he was confined to a wheelchair.


He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gerald Wayne Lippman.


Jack is survived by his wife, La Verne, and four children, who are Linda McGown and husband Jim of Lake Jackson, Brian Lippman and wife Melany of Bryan, Kevin Lippman and wife Julie of Dallas, Lori Rait and husband Brian of Spring; seven grandchildren, Catherine Lippman-Bartkus of Austin, Rachel McGown of Houston, Caroline, Matthew, and Andrew Lippman of Dallas, Rylan and Dylan Rait of Spring; brother, Glenn Lippman of Houston; and several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.


The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a Rosary service at 7 p.m., at Lakewood Funeral Chapel.


Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Holy Cross Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo, Texas.


Pallbearers will be Kyle Lippman, Robert Kubesch, Michael Kubesch, Joe Kubesch, Georgia Crosley, and Weldon Drapela.


Honorary PallBearers: Kurt Kubesch, Jay Kubesch, Draper Stephens, Rabbi Barton Lee, Carl Lee, Stanley Rosenthal and Leo Crosley.
