Burnice Ray Whitehead Funeral services for Burnice Ray Whitehead, age 83, of Clute, Texas , will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3rd at Brazos Pointe Fellowship in Lake Jackson, Texas with Greg Pickering officiating.
Interment will be held at the Restwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends at Brazos Pointe Fellowship at 9:00a.m. immediately preceding the service.
Ray accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She spent most of her life in the Brazosport area. Ray served her community by serving as a volunteer for the Brazoria County R.E.A.C.T group.
Her greatest joy in life was simply being with her family. Whether it was worshiping her Lord, cheering kids on at athletic events, camping, fishing, taking an occasional trip to Coushatta, or even playing a great game of "Hand and Foot", it was always family centered.
Ray loved family reunions and opportunities to gather with extended family. In her later years, Ray could be seen almost every day doing what she loved, sitting on the front porch with her husband Joy and their dog Boots, drinking coffee waving at passing neighbors and visiting with those who were able to stop for a moment and chat.
Survivors include Richard Joy Whitehead, her husband of 63 years; daughter Debra Blackwell and husband Elgin , of Lake Jackson; sons , Mike Whitehead and wife , Cherle , of Vidor, Texas and Ronnie Whitehead and wife , Teresa , of Lake Jackson ; g randchildren are , Jeff Faulk and wife , Teresa of Houston, Teresa Hammonds and husband , Clint , of Guy, Amanda Wiggans and husband , Shane , of Haslet, Christie Gutierrez and husband , Joey , of Lake Jackson, Melinda Terry and husband , Ben , of Beaumont, Jason Whitehead and wife , Lisa of Katy, Joshua Whitehead , of Katy, Chris Whitehead , of Brazoria, Leah Fipps and husband , Brian , of Houma, LA, and Cory Whitehead , of Lake Jackson. Burnice is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Burnice is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Georgetta Eklond; sisters, June Chasteen, Jimmie Hayes, Mary Strong, and Bobbie Waller, and brothers, Roy Eklond And Johnny Eklond; and her daughter, Karen Faulk.
Pall bearers will be her five grandsons, Jeff Faulk, Jason Whitehead, Joshua Whitehead, Chris Whitehead, Cory Whitehead and her neighbor, Ron Armstrong.
The family would like to thank Mom's neighbors and friends for all the prayers and support they graciously provided.
We would also like to thank IPH Hospice and A+ Texas South Personal Home Care Services for their professional yet personal care given to our Mom.
