William Curtis Jordan

Service in celebration of Bill's life will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church at 300 Willow Drive, Lake Jackson on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:30 am. Viewing and visitation is from 5 7 pm Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home, 98 N. Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson. Bill was born on May 1, 1929 in Huntsville, TX to Mildred Rainy and Raymond Jordan. He was the fourth of five sons.

He is survived by his faithful wife of 64 years, Ginny Jordan, and their six children, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, listed below, and by his brother, John Jordan of Corpus Christi, TX. Curtis and Pam Jordan, their children: Lisa and J.D. Langeland, Julia Jordan, Jessica Jordan, Mykala Jordan, and Samantha Jordan. Milyn Jordan Elaine and Tommy Montier, their children: Jason and Angela Montier, Jennifer, Juliet, and Nicole; Scott and Kelly Montier, Robyn and Molly; Bo and Savannah Montier; and Dee Montier. Beth Quarles, her children: Crystal Quarles, Mar'ya, Kobe and Tristen; Ricki Lynn Quarles. Loyd and Terri Jordan, their children: Emily Jordan and Katy Jordan, Reverend Charles and Shannon Jordan, their children: Ruth and Hunter Helton; Evelyn and Bob Haws, Jonathan; Ian Jordan; Charis Jordan; and Faith Jordan.

Bill graduated from Texas A&I in Kingsville, TX with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation in 1954, he went on a five year testing program with General Electric Co starting in Lynn, MA. He then came back to Texas to begin his over 38 years with Dow Chemical Co in Freeport . While working for Dow, he went to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) conferences in the U.S. and abroad. He talked to many industries about instituting safe electrical practices in their plants. He also served on several OSHA committees, setting up guidelines for those practices. After leaving Dow at age 65, he worked for Doug Peterson trouble shooting at locations in South America, the Dominican Republic and in several states in the U.S. He received the Electrical Safety Excellence Award from the IEEE Industry Application Society Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee in 2005. In 2001, he cofounded the Interfaith Food Bank (The Food Basket) in Clute. He had served on the board of Brazosport Cares prior to his involvement with the Food Basket.

Pallbearers will be: Ian Jordan, Jason, Scott and Bo Montier: Austin and Eddie Hobbs; Bob Haws; Hunter Helton; and J.D. Langeland.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hill, Joel Johnson, Freddie Mathis, Roy Bagley, Tom Lunsford, and Mike Rowland.
