Rhonda Lynn Davis Owen

Rhonda Lynn Davis Owen, 53, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2014. She was born February 17, 1961, in Madison, Wisconsin, to William and Billye Enos Davis. The family moved to Santa Monica, California, then Fort Worth, Texas, and finally to San Antonio, Texas. She was baptized at and became a member of Castle Hills Baptist Church and completed high school at John Marshall, where she was active in band and other activities. In high school, Rhonda was also a winner in the Miss Teenage America Pageant held in San Antonio, where she was selected for her intelligence, poise, talent, and beauty out of a field of 400 girls. Prizes included being named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. After high school she attended the University of Texas at San Antonio.
She married Mark E. Owen on April 29, 1988. The couple made their home in San Antonio and welcomed their son William Brooks Owen to the world on June 3, 1994. In 2003, the Owen family moved to Lake Jackson, where Rhonda was employed at several local businesses, the most recent being Luby's Cafeteria. Rhonda will be remembered by everyone she encountered for her warmth and her sense of humor; she made life-long friendships that she maintained in person and on Facebook. Rhonda is survived by her husband and son, her parents, her sister Sandra Davis McQuilkin and her husband, Kyle McQuilkin, of Lubbock, and her sister Victoria Davis and her husband, Eric Lupfer, of Austin.
A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel at 98 N. Dixie Dr. in Lake Jackson on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.
