Donald Eugene Stevens

Donald "Donnie" Eugene Stevens made his destination into the heavenlies with Jesus at Houston Hospice on October 6, 2015 in Houston, TX at the age of 74.
Donnie is survived by his wife Sheila Stevens of Clute, his sons Michael David Stevens and his wife Kathy of Brazoria, Neal Quinten Stevens and his wife Barbara of Angleton, Eugene Chip Stevens of Clute and Aaron Cade Stevens and his wife Tonya of Lake Jackson, grandchildren Christopher Ashley, Samantha Jonns, Brandin Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Cheyenne Stevens, Tanner Stevens, Mary Mikayla Stevens, Hunter Stevens, Kaylee Stevens, Kaleb Stevens, and great grandson Easton Jonns. He is also survived by his sister Sherry Austin of Lake Jackson, sister in law Diane Grant and her husband Phil of Foreman, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donnie was born on May 23, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and Erma Jean Stevens. He married Sheila, the love of his life on February 22, 1971. The couple raised 4 children in their home. Donnie encouraged his love of outdoors to his family. He was very proud of his Cherokee heritage and often shared it with his friends and family. He enjoyed researching genealogy with his sister. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, and patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. After retirement, he dedicated his life to caring for his father, mother in law and brother in law.
Donnie was an accomplished boiler maker. He was a 51 year member of Pipefitters Local 211. He received his 50 year recognition award in 2014. He served as a shop steward at J.S. McKinney for numerous years until his retirement in 2003. He was passionate about hunting, fishing and rock design. He was an active and dedicated member of the Brazosport Christian Center in Clute.
A celebration of life is scheduled for October 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Brazosport Christian Center in Clute, TX. Pastor Cedric Johnson will officiate the ceremony and his nephew, Darren George, will deliver the eulogy. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donnie's life. The family will be traveling to Colorado to spread his ashes in the Rocky Mountains. The family would also like to thank Kathy Pickens for her compassion and dedication as Donnie's caregiver.
