Johanna Wilhelmina Tonry

Johanna Wilhelmina Tonry-(nee-Nijland), was born October 8, 1934, in Bandung, Indonesia. Johanna went home to be with her Savior, family and friends on October 26, 2015.


Johanna and her family survived their imprisonment in the camps during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia during WWII.


Johanna loved to sew, quilt, knit, fish cook, bake, and she loved the great outdoors. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed the company of her large family. She was also very handy when it came to fixing things around the house. She is the strongest person we have ever known and we are blessed to have been part of her life.


Johanna was preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Kok; father, Herman Nijland; brother, Johan (Bob); and sisters, Hermina, Gerreje, and Antonia.


She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert Tonry (Shandon), Patricia Tonry, Kelly Wright (Aaron), Richard Tonry (Laurie) and Tracy Warner; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.


We love you , and will miss our Mother , but know that we will someday be reunited.


Memorial service is to be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Texas.
