Margaret Louise Whitehead went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
Her smile and her kindness will be missed by many. For the last one and half years she resided at Creekside Village rest home. Thanks to the nurses, aides, and staff for all of your love and kindness to her.
She was born in New Castle, Texas on September 16, 1925, and was 86 at the time of her homecoming.
She was part of a kind and loving family that taught Christian morals and principles. She had these principles and morals all the way to the end. Don't know of anyone she didn't like.
The McKibben family were some of the first pioneering families that came and started up Lake Jackson. Although Louise did not come until after she graduated from high school, which was just about a year.
She was one of the charter members; along with her family, of First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson.
Louise taught in the public school system for 29 to 30 years. She taught in first grade and also second grade, in Elizabeth Ney. Her first years to teach were the 1946-1947 school year.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 64 years, Red Whitehead; her dad and mom, O.H. and Carrie McKibben; three sisters, Evelyn Duhon, Jackie Travis and Peggy Swift; one brother, Warren McKibben; daughter-in-law, Donna Whitehead.

She is survived by one brother, Gene McKibben, two sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Joyce Whitehead, Bobby and Rene Whitehead; five grandchildren, Tommy Whitehead, Missy Vicknair, Sandy and Robert Osborne and Chris McDowell; four great-grandchildren, Robert Smith, Connor Whitehead, Danielle Whitehead and Ahz Vicknair; two great-great- grandchildren, Kayla Smith and Dane Smith.

In lieu of flowers please donate to an Alzheimer's fund or Creekside Village Nursing Home South Unit in Clute.

Her viewing will be at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2012, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral will be at Temple Baptist Church in Clute at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012.

Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery in Holden, Louisiana.

Mrs. Whitehead was my first grade teacher in 1966 at Ney elementary in Lake Jackson. Out of all the teachers and college professors she was clearly the most caring and loving of all. I didnt come from the best home but she made me fell like I could do anything I ever wanted. She was a remarkable person not just a teacher. I spoke of her often. I even use her as a security question when ask for a password recovery question of who is your favorite teacher. I am so sorry for her families and the worlds loss; she was the important and made more of a mark on this plant than she or her family will ever know. I wish I'd known sooner I would have differently come to her service. I wish I could have told her what an impact she made on my life.

Mrs. Whitehead will be missed by so many, especially because of all the lives she touched when she was younger. She was the most precious lady I had ever been around. Always a helping hand or a kind word from her at times when you needed it the most. I am a sister of Bobby Whitehead, and Bobby had the joy of being adopted by this precious family when our parents passed on in our younger ages. I thank God all the time that he was sent to a loving Christian home, The Whiteheads. They were and will always hold a very special place in my heart from now till eternity. I will see you in the sweet bye and bye Mrs. Whitehead.
