James "Jim" Edward Fipps was born on April 10, 1933 in Thrall, Texas to Amos Edward and Lydia Rosie Fipps. The Fipps family relocated to Brazoria County becoming one of the founding families of Lake Jackson, where Jim graduated from Freeport High School in 1951. Jim played football for the Freeport Exporters on the A-squad his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years, when they took the state championship . He worked for AT&T installing telephones and met his wife of 60 years, Marjorie J. Fipps when installing a telephone in her parent's home. Jim and Marji had a wonderful life journey together, which included 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 21 years, including service in the Korean Conflict and two tours in Vietnam before retiring. Once retired from the Air Force, Jim and his family returned to Lake Jackson, where he then worked for Dow Chemical as an electrical technologist until he retired in 1992. He didn't slow down after his 2nd retirement he was active in the local VFW, Brazoria County Car Club, several cook off teams, and always made time to visit his friends at the office. He was a true Dallas Cowboy fan and often incorporated their logo into anything he was involved in. Jim's greatest accomplishment was his family, he was proud of his 4 children and delighted to watch his family grow with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim and Marji's house was always filled with the sounds of family that made the house a home to be enjoyed by all.
He is survived by his sister Janice Marie Scott and her husband, Mitchell of Lake Jackson. Jim is survived by his children: son William and his wife, Robin Fipps of Lake Jackson, son James A. Fipps of Freeport, son Clinton Fipps of Lake Jackson, and his daughter Paula and her husband, Rick Hart of Charleston, WV. Jim also known as Paw-paw is also survived by 37 grandchildren and great grandchildren and two nieces of Lake Jackson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Johnathon Acord, Nicholas Acord, Bryan Fipps, Jacob Fipps, James Carl Fipps, Michael Fipps, Russell Fipps, and David Haid.
In honor of Jim's love of the Dallas Cowboys the entire family will be dressed in Dallas Cowboy attire for the services on Saturday. The family invites everyone to join them as they "cowboy up" and become Jim's favorite team for the day.
The family appreciates all the love and support as they honor and celebrate the life of James Edward Fipps, the head of their family and the root of their strength.

Mr. Fipps was a great friend for me. When I was in the hospital for 30 days after my stroke he came to visit every day. After I was to able be at home again, he continued to "watch" over me. He was a man who would help others any way he could. I only regret that I was not able to do the same for him in his last days.
My prayers go out to the family.

Mr. & Mrs. Fipps were our neighbors when we first moved to Lake Jackson 12 years ago as newlyweds. We could not have asked for better folks to share that time with. Jim & Amanda spend many a day talking across the fence while his four legged children Bo & Lady explored the yard. We also enjoyed the bluebonnets that he nutured each year. Mr. & Mrs. Fipps were a very special to us. I know that Jim will be greatly missed by the family that he loved so much. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

ohn 10:27-29 ''My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.'' (Jesus speaking)
You and your family are in our prayers.
